I seem to have an unusually large amount of dead stems on my macrophylla hydrangeas. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can apply to encourage new ones? Epsom salt perhaps?

Did your area get some of that unusually cold weather this winter? Chances are that's what caused the problems not any nutritional deficiencies, so if your hydrangeas have done well in the past I'd just keep doing whatever you've been doing.
