I moved 2 ferns today and underneath the roots were 3 grubs.
the only reason I know it's grubs b/c I googled 'white garden bugs' and saw the pictures.
I'm thinking there are probably more but I only have 2 hostas left in this particular bed.
How can I get rid of them? I'm assuming they're bad cause they sure look nasty. lol
Grub question
There's a biological control called milky spore that you can use to control them. Or I think there's a species of beneficial nematodes that will take care of them too.
Or you can put them in an old bowl near a bird bath. Birds such as mockingbirds and robins that come to get a drink will see them and often enjoy the free meal. The grubs cannot climb out of the bowl if the sides go straight up so they just creep around in circles. Use gloves if you don't want to actually touch them. I find them in my garden all the time and keep a plastic cup handy to put them in. Then when my gardening is done, I throw the grubs to the chickens (who think they are yummy.)
