Atlanta Visit March 22

Sugar Land, TX

I am on business (convention) in Atlanta March 22 to March 25. Only been to Atlanta airport before on the way to many places. What gardens and nurseries should I visit. I'll have one full day for myself - so can't go too far. Thanks for any input!

I've not been personally, but have heard wonderful things about the Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. It's on my list to do.
http://www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org/site/plan/visitor_info It is Downtown, inside the perimeter - don't know if you're renting a car. Have fun!
I have also heard wonderful things about Wilkerson Mill Gardens - they specialize in hydrangeas, but they won't be blooming by the time you get there, I don't think - mine are just beginning to leaf out, & I'm about 3 hour South . They are located south of the airport, off I-85 , about 16 miles from the airport. Again, don't know if you'll have a car. http://www.hydrangea.com/index.php?pr=Map

I second the Atlanta Botanical Garden, especially if you are interested in orchids. As for nurserys, Hastings is a good one. http://www.hastingsgardencenter.com/

Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely make the Arobretum and Botanical Gardens. I think I'll also have time to make Hastings. I try to do this everytime I travel, I got some good suggestions for a trip to San Francisco in January; but it was winter. Also, have some good recommendations for Sarasota; where I'm traveling at the end of April. Thanks again.

Habershams is a great Nursery, very friendly and helpful people.

Ashe Simpson's is not too far from Hastings.

Smith and Hawkins in Buckhead will also have rare and exotic plants often. Also tons of garden stuff.

These are all within 5-10 miles of each other and the Botanical Garden.
