New Boston, NH

Recently I have been hitting a few antique shops looking for garden decorations for an area I want to garden this year.Yesterday I bought one of those old copper tubs that I think will make a nice planter and add a bit of character .My question is :1) Do i need to drill holes in the bottom as I hate to deface it.2) Can I put partial sand in the bottom so as not to use so much soil?3) Can anyone make suggestions on combinations for planters as mine always look so amature, both Sun and shade?
Thanks,
Peter

You can put another pot inside it.

Yes, I agree, that's the easiest thing to do... put another pot inside.
