Adobe; No-worky; Re-DL'd: Appl Denied...

Howdy, Folks. Didja get all that? ;>)

All of a sudden my Adobe wouldn't open my pdf files. Said I needed file 'such and such'. When I searched, and found it, I got the message 'this file only works with Win 95. (I use Win2K.)

Next move, re-downloaded Adobe Reader (took almost two hours on dial-up) but then during Set Up I now get the error message "Access is Denied. Application DATA/NOS/nos02216//nos3.tmp".

What gives? Why am I denied access?

And now that I am thinking clearly (or more clearer) should I have removed any Adobe program first, before re-downloading or would it have just be written over?
