need advice on pruning a weeping cherry tree

Kalamazoo, MI

How does one prune a weeping cherry tree for graceful appearance? We planted one in 2005 and haven't pruned it; the weeping branches have grown into too large a circumference for its spot in the landscape and the branches hang down too low to the ground. Beautiful tree, though! Never had enough sun at our old house to have such a tree.

Can you post a picture?

I will ask my DH to post a pic; I am not very advanced with computers. Thanks for the interest!

You can train any tree or plant to grow in the direction you want. Just trim a limb or growing point down to a bud or shoot that is facing in the direction you want it to grow. That bud/shoot will be the one to grow.
