Winter-blooming cyclamen...my taste of spring

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

Still encased in winter, I have my cyclamen collection at work to lift my spirits. I have a modest collection of species (7 species with 2 more just sown). Only C. hederifolium and C. purpurascens are reliably hardy here but I do plant on trying C. coum this year since I have lots of seedlings coming along. Here is the collection at the moment. C. coum, repandum and pseudibericum are currently blooming.

pseudibericum is past its peak now. It has a great fragrance.

and a closer look at repandum. This one also has a delightful fragrance.

I lost the tag on this guy. Is it hederafolium?

Is that beauty flowering now? Regardless, it is certainly NOT hederifolium.

yep. Its in my greenhouse. I've been trying to get cyclamen going on the property
for quite a while so keep starting new ones from seed. Here are the options from
2005:

cyclamen mirabile
cyclamen graecum
cyclamen purpuracens

Perhaps Mirabile?

Thanks
Tam

I tend to go with mirabile....I have the other two and they do not look like yours. I don't have mirabile and none of mine look like yours, so by the process of ellimination!

I would love to grow cyclamen, but was not able to find seeds. Is there anyone here who harvest the seeds and is willingly to trade them.

Thanks Todd. I should probably post the ID forum to be sure. I have started
coum & persicum other years. (And Hederifolium most years).

Jonna - so far, the only seed I could offer would be from Thompson-Morgan seed.
I started them almost ten years ago and they just bloom and bloom in my greenhouse.
D-mail me if you are interested - I'll stop deadheading if you want some.

I see John Lonsdale has a nice section on cyclamen. I'm gonna have to get an
invitation to see his garden. He's in my local NARGS chapter

Apparently mirabile and cilicium (another possibility) are fall bloomers.....the flowers look much like cilicium (mirabile is suppose to have somewhat toothed edges to the petals)...it might even be the wild form of persicum. Take a pic to Jon's..he might recognize it immediately.
