SO, the big question now is, will it bloom again or should it be treated as an annual and added to the compost pile? There is 6-7 inch new growth on the main stem while the rest of the plant is dead (probably frost bite). What do you think? Has anyone "overwintered" and if so, does the plant resume health and vigor or is it a spindly hanger-on????

Potted Datura Made it thru the winter-outside-
Cut it back to an inch above the new growth. Loosen up the soil a bit around the roots if it's compacted and feed it. In my experience with ones that made it through the winter in my zone, 8b, it should come back big and strong.

X, thanks for the thread link. Interesting. I guess yours grew and thrived --- was it really a cold hardy strain? How many seasons did it grow?
It finally croaked in the fall and the plants I've grown from the seed don't appear to be any more cold hardy than others.
