According to the CT state website, its motto: "Qui Transtulit Sustinet," (He Who Transplanted Still Sustains), may have the 80th Psalm as a possible source. "Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it." Although I haven't cast out any heathens lately, I do agree that transplanting does sustain my seedlings.
Are there any other classical mottos that have a gardening slant?
