Need help germinating blue butterfly pea vine

Bryan, TX

I just received 10 seeds of clitoria tornatea, blue butterfly pea vine and would appreciate any input as to best get them to germinate. I have the small peat pellets and plan to start them indoors. Would that be the best thing to do and do they need to be nicked or soaked before planting? Thanks for any help

From a google.com search:

These plants are very drought tolerant, but should be watered regularly. (never over-water!)
The seeds should be soaked overnight in room temperature water before planting at 3-4 inch spacing. The seeds should be started indoors at 70-75 degrees, 12 weeks before the warm weather arrives.
The seed pods are edible.

Here is a link to the Thompson & Morgan Seed Germination Database .. pretty much everything you need to know. Scroll down about 1/3 and you'll see the different varieties with instructions on what you need to do.

I've adapted it to a Word file you can save and print out .. click on the link and tell computer to save it to disk. I use it constantly and have it in a notebook.

I don't know which zone you're at lovediggin, but I'm in zone10 and these seeds germinated outside just fine...(we get in the low 50s at night).
They're easy, have fun!

thank you, robcorreia. It's been in the 60's at night and 70's to 75's during the day now altho a freeze is expected this weekend. I will put them out soon. The soil is warming as I see things putting on new growth. I think we are in 8a.
