Brass bottle from Nepal or Tibet. Any ideas?

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

This was a gift from a family of Tibetan refugees who were living in Patan, Nepal. We were exporting their lost wax copper castings 20 years ago and this was a "thank you" (antiques were difficult or impossible to export but this, being a non-commerical transaction in a way, passed). I have no idea what it was used for or how old it might be. Any ideas?
