hearts ? how, correct shape after tucked ?

Keysville, VA(Zone 7a)

put on your thinking caps....

ok, we're making a quilt, going to cut out heart shapes to sew onto a square. I don't want to stitch around it using a decorative stitch. So, how can i get the edging of the heart shape tucked under without loosing the exact shape ?

same question for x amount of half circles layed consectitive with all flat bottoms , facing the bottom.....looking like a row of humps, mountains without a peek....ect..??

i tried the humps and they were all uneven so i just used a design stitch and stitched around them.

I seen this pattern ( on my grandmothers bed) in a old photo of a family pet. of course i've look at that dog a million times and finally noticed granny's quilt in the background...lol...

thanks for all your help guys !! without this pc, i'd have no help'atall !!
