will red wigglers eat hay?

will red wigglers eat hay? I'm thinking of putting some down in a hay bale to help it break down naturally.

I may have found an answer from a mj grower. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/how-grow-marijuana/71713-how-do-i-start-compost-pile.html

Interesting!
I know worms will eat hay if it is laying on the ground, wet. That is how my sister improved her soil year after year-spreading hay and horse poo, then working it into the ground.
Hope that helps,
Julia

It can't hurt to try.

By all means try, but remember, red wigglers feed on your composted garbage that has decayed and has organisms in it. Just use a few of your red wigglers to try. Probably hay will attract your local worms if it keeps the earth moist under it and they will love to eat the decaying hay.

seems to be going well so far.
