I know that Ledman watermelons were a favorite in the triad area of NC a couple of generations ago. It is a large, oval, very sweet, blackish green melon that was a favorite for the garden. It was not so popular, I think, in the markets because it had a reputation for splitting open when handled roughly. Any clues on finding seed would be great!

If it was developed in North Carolina, there is a heritage foundation that preserves some seeds. Start by contacting NC State. Never encountered it myself.

Thanks, but I've previously been in touch with Cat at this greenhouse site. He said he double checked and all the ledman seeds were sold during his final sale in 2008.
