I had talked to a friend who mentioned he used urea around his tropical plants and that they seemed to love it. I found that urea contains a lot of nitrogen and that their is a large company that processes it locally were I live. Would this be good to add to the compost as a source of nitrogen as well as the soil?
Urea?
I use to use it in my compost and garden soil, early spring so the plants would get a good jump in growing,I bought it in a 40lb bag,46-0-0,it was around $18.
But the drawbacks for me was the blooming plants like hibiscus , cannas, crinums and flowering vines didn't want to come into flower until fall, because it takes so much time and watering to get all the nitrate thru them.
But you want lush growth,it worked real well on bananas!
Too much though you'll pay a price of burnt foliage!
That might be good for helping to compost a bunch of leaves. For the added nitrogen.
