Most Fragrant Winterhazel?

Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

We recently cleared an area at the back of our property and would like to plant some eastern redbud and winterhazel among the trees.

Can anyone recommend the most fragrant of the winterhazels? On a walk in the Bronx Botanical garden last spring, we were introduced to the glabrescens variety which had a nice scent. Are there others that are recommended?

I found an online nursery in the area that has a decent selection:

Fragrant Winterhazel (Corylopsis glabrescens) is reputedly to be the most fragrant, hence the common name. It's also the hardiest and best choice for northern gardens, although it's recommended to plant in a "protected" area. Buttercup Winterhazel (Corylopsis pauciflora) has an overall daintiness compared to C. glabrescens and also stays about half the size.

Mobot says Hamamelis mollis is the most fragrant, and I suppose lots of the cultivars would be, too. I'd try asking Fairweather Gardens, they have so many different kinds.

Quoting:
Buttercup Winterhazel (Corylopsis pauciflora)

In my experience, this lives up to its scientific name: pauci, few, and flora, flower . . . it doesn't flower very much!
