CLOSED: Have: Douglas Fir Seeds for SASE

Langley, WA(Zone 8b)

I thought that I had sent all my Douglas Fir seeds in a trade, but I was going through my tree seeds and realized that I still have a few (9 seeds) from this year's harvest sitting around and looking for a home.

The Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is not a true fir, but it is a lovely, semi-columnar conifer. They become quite massive here in their natural habitat (200'+) but are said to be much smaller as a cultivated tree (eventually reaching 40-80' tall and 12-20' wide depending on climate).

My trees live on the coast so their seed is not likely to produce trees as hardy as some of the mountain strains. They need full sun and well drained soil in areas that receive notable summer precipitation. Grows fairly readily from seed. No pretreatment required. If you want to give them a try, just let me know.

The photo is of some of my Douglas Firs in the snow (all the conifers pictured are dougs).

The seeds have found a home. Thanks!
