This Abutilon is looking so pretty bobbing in the wind. It caught my eye from the window. There is a tree that blocks it from my view when the wind blows it, so there was a flash of yellow then gone, yellow flash and gone, etc....
'Canary Bird' Abutilon
I am new to this thread but I love the photos & it caught my eye..is the other name for these lovely plants called the Rose of Sharon? As they look like what someone I once knew had in his garden.
I also have a goldfish plant only it's called something else here.
thank you.
The 'Rose of Sharon' is in the same Family but different Genus: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/48640/

The Goldfish: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/95028/ Mine is the tropical goldfish shown here. I'm not sure what other name it may be called. So many plants have nicknames.
Welcome aboard. I hope to chat with you more. I have a couple of Rose of Sharons, too. Mine aren't very tall yet. I did start one seed from the one that is about 5 ' and it is growing nicely.

Your abutilons look very pretty. I have Gold Dust too. I hope mine does well. My others made it through last winter just great planted outdoors. I hope it is a trend that continues. I have a few I rooted for backup just in case. Kirsten's Pink is similiar to my Mobile's Pride and Pink Charm. Just gorgeous.
pryromomma,
Yes, your Abutilon does look like 'Voodoo'. It is very healthy and pretty. Congratulations on blue ribbon!!
