They look beautiful! Will they acclimate okay? Such gorgeous birds!!

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks! :)
grownut...acclimate to what?

Ferndale, WA

Cottage Rose they are beautiful. I hate Geese and Ganders even more. Yes they are beautiful. Thats all I can say. I hate Geese and Ganders even more. LOL

Clarkson, KY

I was just thinking that if they just got to Michigan they might be shocked by the cold -I would be! But maybe they're local? They are SOOOOO beautiful! (pant)

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

They came from Kansas where the weather has been just as cold as here so they should be fine.

Haystack,
Sebastopols aren't mean. Very quiet, sweet geese but any gander, even a Seb can get hissy during the breeding season
but they're just protecting their girls. Its usually just all bluff albeit some can go beyond bluff but I let mine know whose boss and I don't have any problems with them.

Lodi, United States

They are lovely and I want one.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks Catscan. :)
Just a little tip...you should never have just one goose.
They like to be with their own kind (other goosies)
and should have a friend.
Geese are *very* intelliegent and sensitive.
Sort of like feathered dogs.

Lodi, United States

I was going to add--"or Two". But ZZ doesn't know about the goose eggs yet:0)

Clarkson, KY

Never fear, Cottage Rose! Catscan is constitutionally unable to get one of anything feathered...;-)

(Zone 7b)

OH they are so pretty everytime i see a goose i think of "Mother Goose".

Ferndale, WA

Cottage_Rose! I think I like you, You have quelled my fears. LOL Honestly when I was about six my parents had a Goose and a Gander. When I would come home from the first kindergarten I was always confronted at the bottom of our driveway about a block long and that darn gander would not let me go home and he seemed to know all the shorcuts I would try to access. I can not tell you how many little pieces of me there are out there still trying to find their way home. Ok so that was almost seventy years ago, so what? I know.....Get over it. Thanks for not taking offense. Haystack. They truly are beautiful.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Haystack that sounds like a very tramatic experience
for a child to go through.
Too bad your parents allowed that to go on.
If I had a gander like that he would be in the freezer.

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

congrats cottage they r very lovely!!!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Cottage Rose they are beautiful!!
Catscan... NO!!!! What are you thinking? LOL

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

They are beautiful! I have never seen that kind before. Their feathers seem different to me. I love them. Wish I could have some. :(
My DH is just adjusting to all the chickens. But I can always enjoy photos of yours. I will live vicariously through your updates and photos.

Haystack, its okay, I am afraid of gerbils! I know it sounds crazy, but childhood experiences can be traumatic. I can totally see you trying to outsmart that goose.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

sewincircle....they are different.
They're fluffy!
Heres some of my white Sebastopol Geese.
The colored ones are hybrids.
Bred to other breeds to introduce color.

All that is different I fall in love with. These are right up their on the list.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Muppets? He-heee! ;o)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Wow, those sebastopol geese are all lovely. They almost look slightly frizzled. I would like to have some. I have a pond. Will snapping turtles eat them?

I have a goose egg but it's on my hip where I smacked it on a fence post a couple of days ago! LOL!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

LOL! DONOT TRY TO HATCH IT! I REPEAT, DO NOT
TRY TO HATCH IT!

Clarkson, KY

Now I wonder...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Well I have been keeping it warm...

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Keep away from the incubator...
Perhaps we can get ya' some of those fancy geese above in the spring!

Clarkson, KY

I was here first! And she has more difrent stuff than me!!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Grow, It just dosnt seem fair does it? We will get you some too. (patting back and talking in a soothing tone of voice.) We will make it all better. We can get you a trio and Mox a pair. How would that be?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Or hey Grow, I know, we could get you like 50, and me 20. How would that be? Wouldn't that be cool? And then we could trade eggs and everything. And tell you what, just cuz I luv ya, I'll throw a pair of emu into the deal.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

WOW! emu! That ought to add to your count!
But whos counting right?
On the other hand 50!!!! WOW!

Clarkson, KY

Oh glory, whatever we decide to do, NOBODY start counting!!
Otherwise -I'm in!

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

You're all safe...I don't sell hatching eggs.

Clarkson, KY

Well. Sniff. S'pose I can still covet from afar...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Don't cry cousin Grow, we'll find some eggs from the magical eggbid place.

Clarkson, KY

S'okay. I only sulk for dramatic effect...

(now I'm sulking about corrections...)Nailed!

Effect.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Not trying to be a snob or anything but most serious breeders
don't sell hatching eggs, let alone on eggbid.
Let the buyer beware...buying from online auctions is like playing Russian Roulette. Even buying birds from commercial hatcheries can result in inferior stock. I saw some Sebs from Ideal hatchery recently and they were the ugliest Sebs I've ever seen!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh. :-(

All my chicken eggs from eggbid have been pretty good so far, with 1 exception. Ah well, we'll just admire from afar then.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Well if you've had good luck thats great.
I've just heard too many horror stories.

Clarkson, KY

...how many times I switched from e to a and back...not enough obviously...cape and tights...lovely pink and chartreuse...dangg!!!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Cool! Fancy outfit!
