Got tip from "Stained Glass News" on Cutting Wine Bottles

Mesilla Park, NM

Just read this in this flyer: Stained Glass News Issue #81

Running the Score in a Wine Bottle

When cutting wine bottles, I dip the scored end of the bottle in boiling water for about a minute, then dip it into a sink of cool water. The bottom of the bottle pops right off with a clean edge.

It was a tip from one of the readers... I have not tried it, but will tomorrow.

Has anyone here tried this? Seems easy enough, but I would wear safety glasses just in case some glass slivers fly.

A.
