New Wassail!! All join in!!

Clarkson, KY

Any type of song is acceptable, but I grew up with Christmas Carols so.....
For the P&L Crew -they aren't all silly!

Jesus, our brother, kind and good,
Was humbly born in a stable rude;
And the friendly beasts around Him stood.
Jesus, our brother, kind and good.

"I," said the Donkey, shaggy and brown,
"I carried His mother up hill and down;
I carried His mother to Bethlehem town."
"I," said the Donkey, shaggy and brown.

"I," said the Cow, all white and red,
"I gave Him my manger for His bed;
I gave Him my hay to pillow His head."
"I," said the Cow, all white and red.

"I," said the Sheep, with the curly horn,
"I gave Him my wool for His blanket warm;
He wore my coat on Christmas morn."
"I," said the Sheep, with the curly horn.

"I," said the Dove, from the rafters high,
"I cooed Him to sleep that He should not cry;
We cooed Him to sleep, my mate and I."
"I," said the Dove, from the rafters high.

Thus every beast by some glad spell,
In the stable dark was glad to tell
Of the gift he gave Emmanuel,
The gift he gave Emmanuel.

That is lovely.

"I" said the chicken, feathered and gold
"I gave Him an egg, so warm to hold;
I gave Him some feathers so He'd not be cold"
"I" said the chicken, feathered and gold.

Ha! I knew we needed a chicken one. I just couldn't bring myself to change the one carol that already fit perfectly. I'm working on the "Carol of the Critters"

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Dashing through the snow, to go collect some eggs
Through the yard I go, running to the coop,
As I hurry forward, my basket bumps my legs
I stumble then I hit the ground face down in chicken poop,

Ohhhh, jingle hens, jingle hens,
Jingle as you lay
Oh what fun, it is to watch
the chickens all at play.

ROFLOL!

I'm moving the X-mas songs over from the old thread -This one's Harmony's

Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs to Town, Oh what fun it is to be Bringin Eggs to Town.
Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs to Town, Oh what fun it is to be Bringin Eggs to Town.

Dashin up the road slingin lots of mud
watchin all the cows wiz by chewin on their cud.

OH Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs to Town, Oh what fun it is to be Bringin Eggs to Town.

Mama's ridein shotgun and Grandpa's in the back
Daddy's at the wheel and Grannys at the shack

OH Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs to Town, Oh what fun it is to be Bringin Eggs to Town.

Grandpa's buyin Backer and Daddy's gettin Stuff
Mama's buyin Yard Goods and Gettin Grannys Snuff

OH Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs to Town, Oh what fun it is to be Bringin Eggs to Town.

I got some Penny candy and a brand new Pocket Knife
I don't think i've ever been this happy in my life

OH Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs to Town, Oh what fun it is to be Bringin Eggs to Town.
Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs, Bringin Eggs to Town, Oh What fun it is to be Bringin Eggs to Town.

And here's Sheila's

My latest tune sung to "Away in the Manger"...

Away in the nest box no chips for a bed
The little hen tries to lay down her small egg
The roosters are crowing the hen tries again
But try as she might no egg does she make.

I love the little red hen for all of her eggs
but if she don't lay them she'll be sealing her fate
I don't want to take her to auction today
but try as she might no egg does she lay.

We watch little hens as they go to new homes
it sad but necessary for the farm that I own
I start to rethink that i made a mistake
and I rescue my hen from her crate and her fate.

we create a special new bond as we drive on home
she clucks and I talk all about the day long
she pecks so nicely at my driving hand
and nuzzles my neck as to say thank you ma'am

I built her a new coop just outside my door
the little hen loves it and stays there some more
one morning I woke up and what did I find
my little red hen left me an egg behind.

So remember to cherish the chickens you have
and try and keep them happy and dry and all fed.
they will give you eggs if you treat them just right
and always remember to close them at night!

as they try to turn the rocks
i goout and yell P-E-A-C-O-CK!
turn around and here comes the flock

a wonderful sound
as we walk around
a frosty chicken wonderland

Okay--Moxon is writhing provocatively on top of a John Deere dressed head to foot in polar fleece and flannel and wearing her chicken hat.

Oh Dear!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

How did you see me!?? No fair, I was doing that in PRIVATE!!!

Lodi, United States

I was monitoring your latest mission, of course. Our technology is advancing rapidly.

May I suggest curtains, my dear Moxon? Curtains and blinds:0)

Clarkson, KY

Well, it suits her, Cats! Don't be too mean!! Nice sheer white curtains, backlit...

Love the choice and rendition, Moxy!!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Thanks Grownut, it was my slinky side coming out! Cuz I'm oh-so-sexy in those flannel PJ's. :-)

Clarkson, KY

Eeeew. My feet are sweating already. Lovely selection if you like them I s'pose, but I'm a dyed-in-the-wool foot-sticker-outer...

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I'm a classic tartan flannel gal. I marry them with gum boots or hot pink flip flops depending on Chinooks.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I'm a foot sticker-outer in bed, which is why I like the ones with the removable footies, so I leave 'em on in the evening when I'm puttering, but take them off when I go to bed. But sometimes, it's so dang chilly, that I leave them on anyway. I also have a snuggle sack. I will have to take a picture of that, it is too hard to describe. But it is foot-open.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

BTW, in a blatant plug of my own blog here, I thought I'd point out that I'm doing a tomato seed give-away. See today's post...

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Claire, you GO girl with a BLOG! That is so cool!! I of course am techie-challenged and blogless. I do have a Pebble Flintstones doo. I think that should count for something in the grand scheme of things, maybe, sorta, or probably not. I have also have a gargoyle. Nope not as cool. Crap I have nothing as cool as a BLOG :(

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Dahlianut - it seemed technologically daunting until I actually went to the blogspot.com site and learned a little bit (very little bit) and realized it was dead easy. Really, it is. If you can post to DG, you can have a blog. The gargoyle is very cool. I don't have one of those. Catscan has a ceramic armadillo. She says it levitates. That is insanely cool.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I can't do a blog either but I have a dragon, that I made myself. Unfortunately I can no longer make them

Thumbnail by wren107
Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I could do a blog, I just get tired of arguing with myself.. LOL

I have a "red thing" that I get to wear every Christmas season.. It's long john underwear in one piece.. it's so cool.. I mean warm.. and comfy and for once, the sleeves and pant legs are long enough!

When I open up the box of Christmas sweatshirts, I always dance around and sing to the kids.. I get to wear the red thing... I get to wear the red thing.. LOL

Okay.. I guess ya had to of been there...

Lodi, United States

Wicked cool dragon, wren!

ZZ--we will be broadcasting your red thing dance this Christmas...don't even bother looking for the bug.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Silent coop,
Cozy coop
chickens rest
so they ca do thier best

protective rooster by thier side
will protect them all threw the night

seethe eggs they lay
see the eggs they lay

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Wren - that dragon is so cool! I love it! I'm so sad you can no longer make them. You are such an artist!

ZZ - suddenly I am guessing you are height-challenged (in the tall direction) like me, when you said that thing about the legs being long enough. I also have a red thing!

JKJ - excellent song. I was all quieted by it. Except the spelling police have to make their appearance to say:
threw = I "threw" the egg at JKJ.
through = I threw eggs all "through" the night.

I think I will sing the song to the chickies tonight to put them to sleep!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

ok, tell spelling police i'm so sorry:(

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

No worries, the spelling police luv ya JKJ!
