Who will be raising our food?

Interesting discussion at market this week. Person said "I am raising my kids to know where their food comes from, all parents should be doing the same." I said BUT are you raising your kids to grow their own food or even food for others? Do they know that gardening a farming are acceptable pursuits? How many of us are raising our kids to be farmers? How many of us are involved with community gardens or school gardens. I believe that if we are to have a sustainable future, we need to consider these ideas? We are grateful for any knowledge of a time when people were more self sufficient but what are we doing to pass it on?
