I went to the coast today. Since I have no idea what most of what I got pics of this might be a long thread. But let's take them one at a time.
The first one is a small bird in the shallows but also often came up on firm sand. # 1 pic
CLOSED: Gulf Coast birds
Sanderling in winter plumage
Thank you Donna.
For a start, the four birds in the foreground with red and black bills are Skimmers.
I looked them up and see they're called Black Skimmers.

The larger bird to the right of the center is a Royal Tern, and below that near the center are three four Forster's Terns - no clue about the others.

Ditto to above idents. The rest in the last pic are all Laughing Gulls.

ditto me too on ID's
Frank I call the Forsters Tern a Bandit bird in winter because of the eye patch. Easy to remember for winter ID's and the Royal Tern I think of as having a reverse Mohawk hair do lol. Around the edges instead of down the middle

Willet

;-)
somehing happened to #2 and #3?????
any more pics of the wren?? I have had a House Wren but that doesn't look the same. Probably a Carolina Wren immature. Bewicks would be very rare and unlikely if pic was taken here on the coast
Ruddy Turnstone
Ringed-Bill Gull immature
Heron Gull immature
Laughing Gull immature
yes Juvenile Dbl-crested Cormorant

The wren is a Marsh Wren - note the black-and-white streaks on the back.
I'll have a go at the gulls tomorrow, it's getting late here now!
Resin
Gull #1 is a first-winter Ring-billed Gull
number 2 is adult winter Laughing Gull behind, and first-winter Herring Gull in front
number three is a first-winter Laughing Gull.

PS yep, you need to type at least one word for a post to work, you can't have just a pic with no caption.
Thank you Resin, Donna and Claypa for the IDs. These were all new birds for me. I ended up with 11 new birds for both my life and my photo list.
Congrats Frank
If I remember rightly, I don't think we've had a Marsh Wren pic posted in these forums before, so you have a "forum first" too ;-)

Where did you go on the coast? I'm in Vicksburg and have been wanting to
go down.
