Garlic in EBs or other self-contained box-gardens

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Has anyone ever tried growing garlic in your box-gardens? I note that garlic is supposed to go into the ground in mid-October here in the NE--apparently garlic doesn't mind some winter chill. Would this work with EBs, or would the soil freeze too much in zone 7b? And would garlic work at all?
Thanks!

I tried garlic in boxes but they never made.

Mitch, that's what I've been afraid of, from my reading about growing garlic. . . yet I don't see why it couldn't work in EBs. One thing I HAVE read is that garlic doesn't like moist soil. . . which may be a problem in a self-contained box garden. . . but I just don't know (hence my question.)

Right - I dont know, I tried half in EB and half in the rasied bed. The raised bed worked great and the EB grew but never formed..
