question about garden mosaic projects

in case you haven't opened my previous post, I am looking for ways to do the mosaics that are displayed here:

Can anyone tell me how I can find out more about doing these mosaics?

Any good books on the subject? Where to find the materials? Any good websites with some cool simple projects?

I am thinking of doing these during the winter.
