JeanneTX: We Hope & Pray That You're Okay!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

One of our fellow Clematis lovers & on-line contributor to this forum lives in the Houston area that was hit by the torrential rains, floods and 100 m.p.h. winds from Hurricane Ike. Currently, the Houston area and especially Galveston is with out electricity, fresh water & food. Damage from this hurricane is still being evaluated. Some people in this area have lost their homes & businesses.

Jeanne, I hope you are safe, your home with stood the fury of the storm and your beautiful garden came through unscathed. Please let us hear from you as soon as you possibly can. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Shirley, Jeanne has been on my mind all week. So glad you started this thread. I hope she is just without electricity. I googled her town last night concerning Hurricane Ike and didn't really get an answer on how much damaged occurred in her area. Jeanne, we hope your OK.

Shirley,Gary,Marie,Cat etal...How sweet to be thought of during these past horrible and catastrophic days.We were blessed that we and our home was spared..I had some obelisk etc get blown over with the 85mph winds we recieved. Some in my subdivision suffered from fallen trees into their homes! My thoughts and prayers are with those that lived along the cost and lost everything..makes me feel petty that I cursed my electric company for suffering those 6 days without any ac..Fortunately we were blessed with a Canadian cold front come thru and gave us loverly 70 degree days and even got down to 59 degrees one night with Zero Humidity!!..I want to thank all the States who's electric companies sent workers here..I even saw some from Canada,NC,Okl...what a wonderful world we live in with such caring souls from all over to not only come to our aid but to hold us in thoughts and prayers..your kindness shall never be forgotten!!..hugzz to you all..Jeanne
ps..thanks again to all those who relentlessly emailed me with your thoughts even tho I had no electricity to use my computer..I was amazed of all the emails in my mailbox from all around the globe!

Jeanne so glad to hear that you and your home are alright.

Thank goodness you're alright and your home & garden came through the brunt of the storm with very minor damage. Six days with electricity & a.c. is the pits! However, zero humidity in Houston this time of year is an absolute blessing. Thankfully, the Canadian cold front decided to descend on your area when it did. Aren't we very fortunate to live in a country where we help our fellow neighbors even when they live in different states? We have so much to be thankful for.
