Are these weed seeds or insect related?

A friend of mine send me some photos of a weedy vine she is having problems with this year. I think it is what I call bindweed. She also send this photo of some brown seed like looking things she found underground near her house and what's to know if they are a weed seed or insect realted. The bindweed I have does not have seeds that look like this. Mine has pod's that open up and have 100's of little fuffy seeds in each pod that fly all over. Could you give up the full name of the vine and any information you might have on the brown seed like things?

that looks like sand vine. Member of the milkweed family. don't know about those brown things.
