CLOSED: Maybe a juvie red headed woodpecker

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

This woodpecker (who I did not recognize as another species) was hanging around with two adult red-headed woodpeckers in my yard this morning. Is it a juvenile RHW? I was not sure because I haven't seen one that looks like this before. Would love to know if anyone can tell me!

Another pic - they're not the best - had to do a lot of zooming!

How wonderful! Thanks! When will it get its color, do you know?

They lose the wing stripes and get the red head at 1st molt (before they're a year old)

Interesting - maybe he'll stick around long enough for me to see, or maybe they migrate. Not sure yet. This is my first year of seeing them.

They are mostly permanent residents in Iowa
