Actually it is not a zucchini, either a Trombocino http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/56773/ or Cucuzzi http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/73599/ Both of these are sold as zucchini substitutes and some times as Italian squash. Either can easily reach 5 feet in lenght.
Ahhh....I wonder if I can get that message to the lady in the article. I should try, as she didn't know who gave her the seeds or what kind they were. Thanks, Farmerdill!
