South Hamilton, MA

No more room even though it is tempting.

Philadelphia, PA(Zone 6b)

Bunch of others are half price - saw it last night. After my order arrived, of course!!

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks! and I'm evil eyeing you through my desktop:LOL: I'm sure there are some I absolutely must have....why do I even try to fight it!

(dana)Owensboro, KY(Zone 6a)

Lakes of the Four Se, IN(Zone 5a)

I got Dreaming of Rio as a bonus plant with the order I received 3 weeks ago. Rio's very vigorous as its roots have already reached the bottom of a gallon-size pot. Must get it in the ground this weekend. Schreiner's rhizomes are among the largest I've ever seen! I usually try to order 3 of a cultivar (for a quicker clumping effect) -- but that's not necessary when ordering from Schreiners!

Raleigh, NC

I forgot to enter the code. But they sent Midnight Treat, Raptor Red and Aegean Wind instead, probably since I didn't order many of those on sale - I forgot that, too, and that's what I meant to order, then went online and saw all the others I've been wanting. My bad. All that arrived are top notch, with lots of large babies already formed

Lakes of the Four Se, IN(Zone 5a)

I placed another order with Schreiner's since they're still shipping. Couldn't wait another year. I ordered Michigan Pride and Starship Enterprise -- and, of course, another Dreaming of Rio.

Anyone interested in more Iris? tee hee! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/900799/

Raleigh, NC

darn you AnjL - they had Schortmans's Garnet Ruffles, been looking for that.....

South Hamilton, MA

S. Garnet ruffles could be difficult to find as it is a poor grower in some areas including ours. It is difficult to find plants which grow across a continent.

Raleigh, NC

that may explain why I've lost it once already. but the color is so exquisite, I want to try a season or two of crossing it.

South Hamilton, MA

Grab as much of the pollen as you can. Agree about the color. Look for other garnet colored plants which might stay around a bit more.

Raleigh, NC

good idea. I have wearin rubies, who's your daddy - and of course Lady Friend and Mulled Wine are as hardy as they come. Schreiners sent Raptor Red, and I have forge fire and Burgundy Bubbles- no, I got rid of that one. you think it might not be pod fertile? or not hardy enough to support pod growth?

I'm still learning which parent contributes more to things like vigor and color.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

iris28... Snowpeak has Millenium Falcon for $5.00. I think she is through with sales for the year, but you might get lucky if you contact Dee. Nice big rhizomes too! Otherwise, it's certainly something to keep in mind for next season. Here's a link to the web site... http://www.snowpeakiris.com/iris2000/navpage.htm

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

Iris, just look and tie your hands to your side.

Lakes of the Four Se, IN(Zone 5a)

Iris, what's one more rhizome?! They really don't take up much space during their first year -- and they transplant nicely. (he he!)

(dana)Owensboro, KY(Zone 6a)

lol i could hide more rhizomes but its the mailman thats the problem lol. when the mail or ups comes and the dogs bark and theres a big box on the door step i try to whisk it away . .. . i know i have a problem ..... isnt that the first step admitting? well thats the only step im gonna take .lol
oh and do you really think i can get just one rhizome ? id like to meet someone who can get just one lol.
i even got my mother in law one called barbara my love, because thats her name ,so i could get the ones i wanted. and when the box came i was like its for your mother(and a few extras for me tee hee . wow that sounded bad lol)

(dana)Owensboro, KY(Zone 6a)

oh yah my dh calls iris the cockroach of the garden , because you cant kill them lol . hes a good sport though lol

Lakes of the Four Se, IN(Zone 5a)

With cockroaches like that you don't need an exterminator! I suppose your DH has never met Creeping Charlie! LOL!

(dana)Owensboro, KY(Zone 6a)

lol ...whats creeping charlie

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7b)

I found my misplaced Schreiners catalog and hubby gave me his credit card today to order some vitamins. I think the iris would make me feel better! ;)LOL
Iris28, you are a lot like Lucy, hiding your purchases from hubby. I've done the same thing more times than I can count.

Lakes of the Four Se, IN(Zone 5a)

Creeping Charlie is sometimes called ground ivy. It's a noxious weed in my neck of the woods. It's fairly easy to control when it gets in your garden or flower beds -- it pulls up easily; however, it's a nightmare when it attacks your lawn and becomes intermingled with the grass. I thought I had it under control, but the last 2 years it has come back with a vengeance. If you don't have it in your area -- you're lucky! To think, years ago when I saw this plant for the first time, I said to myself, "what a cute little vine!" NOT!

I'd call it a "botanical cockroach"!!
