Can anyone help me identify what has happened to my Weeping Willow? These red/pink "tumors" started at the very base of the trunk and have moved up to the branches. When I scrape one off, it is almost like a fruit inside but not squishy. They are multiplying rapidly but the rest of the tree looks very healthy. Is this curable? I feel like this tree is one of my pets and I'm in a panic to know if this is serious. Very appreciative of any help. Zone 7b
Weeping Willow bulbous growths on trunk
This sounds like crown gall. Starts at the base, and works its way up. It kills the tree and there's not a thing you can do about it. Here's something I found from Florida on weeping willows and it is mentioned, along with the fact that you don't want to plant anything else there for two years - it's in the soil.

Sorry for the ugly news....
Please contact your local Cooperative Extension Office or a certified arborist to verify this...
