here is an old chest I painted for my grand-girls, I first painted it white, then did the one stroke art work then covered with 2 coats of polyurathyne. The top is laminate, the drawers were in pretty bad shape so I covered them up with the paint (green moss) so that they weren't noticable after sanding them smooth, also put new bottoms in the drawers.
