I am growing ornamental Indian corn this year for the first time. My question is do I leave the ears on the stalks and let them mature and dry there, or should I remove the ears and dry them on a screen or in the open sun?
Ornamental Corn question
I prefer to treat it like field corn. When the ear is mature and the shuck starts to dry, cut the stalk ear and all and stack them up right in bunches "shocks" to finish drying. Then pull the ears. The stalks are also valuable for decorations. http://family.webshots.com/photo/1206187445038034569iLFdbp?vhost=family
Thanks, Farmerdill! I can always count on you for the right answer. I'll do just as you suggest.
