Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

So you are saying that you are unable to get a building permit to do improvments??? That blows!!
So sorry to hear you are having to go through that and the additional family tragedy; prayers for your family.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Want2bee I am so sorry for your loss. I know they say God doesn't give us more than we can handle, but I think anyone would feel ready to break with all you have happening in your life. Big Hugs

W2B--PlZ check in with us every once in a while just so we know you are coping with all of this stress OK. I have felt at times like I was getting slammed from all sides too. Maybe you can find some support if needed in some of the other forums here at Dg, as there are a lot to choose from in addition to gardening. I pray that you have a close support system to help hold yu up when the tides get rough. You are free to DM me any time if you like, I am usually free, especially now since I've just had surgery and can't drive or walk well yet.
Wing waves & Hugs,
Sheri

Laughter is the best coping mechanism. This should help -- a gorgeous portrait of me in a chicken hat:

This is what I keep telling myself....

"Someday everything will all make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason."

Thinking of framing this and hanging it in my dining/kitchen room...

Thanks for all the support!

cedar rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

BTW...GREAT HAT, and a smile that goes with it!

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

All for you, w2b!

(Sheryl) Gainesboro, TN(Zone 6b)

Um... does that make you an egg-head?

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

Framing what, the saying, or the chicken hat picture? LOL Maybe both together?

I have a very specail request....please pray for me and my family tonight and the next couple of weeks, as our family have been put to the test again... my brother this afternoon was taken to the ER and they found a BRAIN TUMOR!
He is my middle brother, which my older brother also lost his home this spring in the flood too, and my mother 84 is not good...(Has had two brian surgery's in the last 2 years..almost lost her last Christmas from a brain tumor)...things are a little stressful right now!!!!!!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

We are promised God never gives us more than we can bear. I would say your family has reached that limit. It is time you claimed that promise for yourself and your family too. My prayers for better things to come your way and quickly.

(Zone 7a)

Want2bee, I can just barely imagine how difficult things are and have been for you - please accept my sympathies for your losses and hopes that things will improve for you. Folks wiser than me have expressed this better in foregoing posts.

Just wanted to say I kept my promises about sending you seeds - they'll arrive piggyback on Star's piggy swap.

Hope you are all right and that you'll let us know how you are.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Wanna. Keep yopur eyes out here the next coupel of days. Cuz your piggy box full of new seeds for ya to play with and plant was shipped the other day. : )

Chalfont, PA(Zone 6b)

I'm so sorry about the flood! I'd be heartbroken. I can send you cuttings and roots of anything I have in my garden. Here's a short list, and if I can think of some more, I'll add . . . (and I'll probably spell them all wrong)
Johnson's Blue Geraniums
Phlox Paniculata (bright eyes, shortwood, david, laura, franz schubert, nicky)
Digitalis Purpurea
Digitalis grandiflora
Centaurus Montana
Monarda (gardenview scarlet, grand marshall)
Echinacea (ruby)
anenome pamina
asclepias tuberosa
heliopsis ballerina
shasta daisy 'silver princess'
cardinal flower
buddleia davidii peacock (and another one that is pink)
campanula carpatic 'blue clips'
scabiosa 'butterfly blue'
sedum 'autumn joy'
white astilbe and pink astilbe
silvermound
lavender 'provence'
some lilies (don't know what kind)
double knockout roses (red and pink)
lily of the valley
bleeding hearts
hostas
montauk daisies

Please, let me know if you want some cuttings or roots to help you get going. I know that it would be a while before you'd see anything from them, but it could save you a lot of $$$, and at least help get you started again.

we also have tons of shrubs (hollys, hydrangeas, azaleas, rhodies, heavenly bamboo - I could try layering some of these, and sending you roots in the fall).

just let me know, and the good thing is, you can apply any experience you had from your lost gardens to your new ones. I know that I'd do things differently if I were starting all over.

Lots of luck, and I'll say a little prayer for your lost plants - there's got to be some sort of heaven for our leafy babies.

Chalfont, PA(Zone 6b)

Oh and I also have some salvia 'may night and blue hill'

Chalfont, PA(Zone 6b)

and, I'm sorry, I didn't read through all the posts before replying, and I just saw that you lost your dad and your brother has a brain tumor. I'm so sorry.

I just want to tell you my dad's brain tumor story. He had a slow growing tumor in his frontal lobe, that we didn't know about until the tumor was about 10 years old and the size of a baseball. His personality slowly changed over time, his psychologist and other specialists just thought he had depression, and would prescribe medication for depression. Finally, he had symptoms similar to having a stroke, and was rushed to the ER, where a CAT scan showed this huge tumor. 2 days later he was in surgery for 10 hours. They removed the entire tumor. It was benign, and he's completely back to normal now. In fact, he was up and talking about 2 hours after the surgery. It's been about 3 years since the tumor was moved, and he's been doing great. I know that every brain tumor is different, and outcome depends on what kind and where it's located, etc, but I thought that you should know that things can sometimes work out okay.

Anyway, you and your family are in my prayers.
Pam.

I want to update everyone that has sent me seeds, plants and prayers....There were days I have to admit, that I FELT like the world was coming down on me! But it's been 1 year ago that we moved into this house, after being flooded out, and losing everything...
But, it has all worked out for us, and in a very strange way my husband and I have come to agree that it was a blessing in the end that it happened... we have worked very hard, and moved foward as fast as we could go...trying to make this our home... we signed the papers on this the last of Dec. and the remodel started the first of Feb.... and this is where we are at today....Thanks again everyone!!!

It looks great! It took me a bit to see just what you'd done differently besides the driveway, and bricks...

I really like the how you brought the roof out, right? And, set it on columns to make a covered area at the front entrance and also over the drive.

Great job! But, most of all, I'm happy that you are becoming adjusted and liking where you are, now. ;0)

(Sheryl) Gainesboro, TN(Zone 6b)

Like Taylor said - I'm impressed with the results of all of your hard work (and DH's, too!). But I'm really really really glad that you're feeling better about life!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

That is an impressive job for doing it yourself!! I love the look of the front! Glad it is a positive change for you. Are your neighbors still giving you grief...bet not. Though they shouldn't have been before either.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Love the new house! Glad to see you are in better spirits now. Keep up the great work. : )
