Evidence!

I caught him with pink petals in his mouth! The little dear munched three 'Ruby Giant' blooms. This is all that was left. One of the new little squirrels here has not got the memo yet. "I feed you nice nutritious sunflower seeds and you don't eat my flowers!" Then I caught him pulling down the tall stems of 'Sunrise', this one must not be as tasty because after a quick nibble he stopped and went looking elsewhere. His friends better inform him where the proper dining hall is located.

Not much good to say about squirrels.

Wake Forest, NC(Zone 7b)

A couple of years ago, I kept setting a Hav-A-Hart trap and catching a squirrel almost every morning. I would drive it over to a state park where there are lots of oak and hickory and release the squirrel. It was 4 + miles from my house so I don't think they came back but after about 8 squirrels, I gave up feeding the birds sunflower seeds and bought safflower seeds. Problem solved! I'm sure the transported squirrels were better off. I hope none left a nest full of babies.
