Hi-
Has anyone any experience with starting Iris from seed?
I would like to try, but I've read some conflicting info online. I do have some plants with seeds right now - here's a photo of one that fell and got mowed over, and have several more that are still ripening. They seem hearty enough, but I don't know the best way to treat them.
Thanks for any input,
Shelley
Iris seeds
While those seeds are firm, the color shows that they may not be quite ripe. I would wait for others when their pods crack open. Information in a series posted by zacattack is an excellant source showing the steps to take in planting. Maybe he could give you the thread, I forget which thread where it is posted.
Thank you. I searched zaczttack threads and found it. There were also some other very informative posts. For anyone else who is interested, the site he posted was:

I found this when I first got seeds from SIGNA and have followed it since and have had great success with arilbred, bearded and beardless including siberian, versicolor, and virginica.
