I have what looks like a mimosa tree in my garden, but it has never flowered or produced seed pods. Are there male and female trees? It is also quite close to the house and I would like to know how invasive the root system is and the likelyhood of any damage to the foundations of the house.
Mimosa Tree
Is it possible to post photos of the tree and leaves please? There a number of different trees that have the common name mimosa, so it would help so that someone might be able to identify exactly which tree it is.....
My husband is back on Wednesday and he has the camera with him. So will hopefully post photos on Thursday.
OK, that will be helpful thanks :)
Although they are beautiful in Spring, I think mimosa are bad news. I have had 3 and they have all fallen over and caused damage, the last one 2 weeks ago, see foto. They are very shallow rooting trees, and grow very rapidly, this one is only 9 years old. I have always pruned it hard in winter to control the size of the canopy.
