But I should have done better, i.e. without Toni Diaz from Valencia on the left and by hiding the gnarly stem on the right, but still with the pringlei crest visible. Too late ;-((

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

For some reason, I never see these in bloom in the US... just wrong climate? Cacti seem to grow fine otherwise. This is the first time I have seen this plant in bloom.

They used to flower sporadically in the Baja Garden of the (former) Wild Animal Park in Escondido and I could collect several seed-pods every year even. But no flowers after this dry and warm last winter.
