Nurseries near Danbury CT

Amsterdam, NY(Zone 5a)

My husband just bought a bike on ebay and he's picking it up this Sunday in Danbury. Are there any good nurseries in the area that are open on Sunday afternoon? I am especially interested in tropical plants - vines, begonias, odd stuff. Or for that matter, any place that has nice, reasonably priced garden statuary or planters.
I wanted to go to Logees or Lauray of Salisbury, but they are both out of the way.

I'm thinking that DH should drop me at Twombly so I can wander about while he talks bikes. Then we should go together to Carlson's, if I can get an appointment, and pick up some 70% off mountain laurel. And one large, too big to be shipped rhodie.
Thanks for the info!

There's also Hollandia Nursery in Bethel, near Newtown. I was there only once several years ago, so I'm not sure what it is like now, but it was a nice nursery when I went.

Oh, and I also just remembered - in Newtown is Lexington Gardens. They seem to be, if I remember, heavy on the gifts and artsy stuff, but it's a fun place to spend an hour or so.

The website does seem to be slanted towards floral delivery/florist's shop, but when I was there about two years ago they did have garden plants and gift shops.

Well, I spent too much time at Carlson's (and too much money), so I gave up Twombly's. I have 2 oversized rhodies, 6 mountain laurel and 4 creeping azaleas. I could easily have spent thousands and not blinked an eye. I must go back with an empty wallet during peak blooming season - but no credits cards, checks or cash allowed, frisk me first.

LOL too funny! I too have been in the same place, spent way more than I intended yet not nearly enough to get my fill!

Were you there in the spring? I can only imagine. I really wanted Jenny Tabol, but there is a hardiness question. It is an incredible rhody though. I got rhodies - Crete and Solidarity. Mountain Laurels (dh is from CT and had wild ones all over)- Quinnipiac, pink charm, tiddlywinks and tinkerbell. And azaleas - Yachiyo red and Lady june. I needed (not wanted) at least 100 more plants. And he insisted on having my snail and email address. I begged him not to send me pictures or a catalog and he just laughed. Sucker on the line...
