Sorry a episode on Paul James the garden guy, about back lighting, thought I'd give it a try ,just to see what all the fuss was about, now you know the rest of the story!!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I love Paul James's show!! I never am able to catch it anymore though. :~(

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I know there is hardly a garden show on HGTV anymore, all design stuff!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Yeah, it's pretty bad. I love the design shows but since it's Home AND Garden they need to balance it out. I want more gardening shows.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Same here!!!
Wouldn't hurt my feelings none if it were all garden shows!!!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Now yer talkin!!!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

What was HGTV thinking when they took all those garden shows off the air????
I hardly even turn to that channel anymore!
December the *th,PBS will host a show, with exotic birds in the wild, good chance to maybe catch some tropicals you might not get to see otherwise!

Are those large leaves Alocasia in the first photo? What are they called?

Mike

Center leaves is Xanthsoma Sag.
and the far left,Alocasia Portora

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hey Don!!! Do you leave your Portora in the ground all year???

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Hey Kim,
Not if I remember to dig it up!!!! LOL
Malanga has come back, and so has the calodora, but they don't get very big.
I really don't if I didn't get all the roots, when I dug them up,or I just forgot to dig them up,but a few ears has come back, but they don't appear until late June early July.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Mmmm something to think about. : )
Thanks!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Is that taken this morning or evening?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

That was in the evening I was under the fruit cocktail tree : ) It turned more charteuse when I posted it LOL!!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Had you just had a storm, and thinking maybe sunshine and a rainbow was showing when you took the photo, how come it was so yellow green sunshine? Is this normal up there?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Nah just a weird moment I guess!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

I grew this canna from seed : )

Great shot, really shows it lines thru the leaves, congrats on getting that from seed,I was never able to get them to germinate!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks.I nicked the seed and put it in a damp napkin a baggy then on a heat mat. I hope it blooms so I can get more seeds!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I've tried that method, but when I pot them up,they seem to show a little green then die,I think they get use to growing, then I put them in soil, and they seem to struggle to grow.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

still at it : )

Kim which brug is that one?
I planted a Pink beauty brug, one that I overwintered in a sack with no soil, just about lost it too, trunk shrevieled up,thought I lost it,cut it back from 5 ft to 1 ft,anyway I planted it in April,it grew to 5ft again and has been flowering non stop since June, and my others were that big to begin with and haven't flowered at all!!
But they have lots of pods growing ever so slow, but should flower finally in a couple weeks!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Dunno Don it's a noid.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)
