Algae

Check out this video......It is simply amazing! We don't have to use our food for gas! Pay particular attention to the statement the guy makes at the end.

If it's true it begs the question, 'Why aren't we funding this to its maximum potential?'

If it's true it begs the question, 'Why aren't we funding this to its maximum potential?'

Because the farm lobby is supported by major corporations (Con-Agra, Archer Daniels Midland, etc.) with deep pockets. It has been decided that we will go with ethanol. The good news is that ethanol can be made from any organic source (even garbage) so maybe someday we can quit burning food. Right now we are subsidizing ethanol production while keeping the price high by having a $.54 per gallon tariff on imported ethanol.

Biodiesel from algae is a hot item with many small companies working on it. All the big oil companies have invested in it. It will be one of the biggest factors in freedom from fossil fuel. Some plants have been completed but most companies are still tweaking their recipes and methods. Falling gas prices will just delay the sense of urgency to bring this technology to market.

Other countries, especially in Europe, are more committed to the development of alternative fuels because they don't have much if any oil.

GREAT video..it is amazing what we could do..I just wish it would happen to such a degree that we would stop foreign oil...that would be cool. Thanks!
