I was outside this evening trimming dead leaves, deadheading, and removing dead scapes from my daylilies. I walked past Sugar Blues and there are two rebloom scapes coming up. I have grown the same rebloomers for a number of years before I got SB and some others, but I don't remember ever having reblooms this early before. I walked around the side of the house to check out Fast Forward, and there is a rebloom scape on it too. Now, if we could only get some rain to help grow those scapes.

Is this too early for rebloom in my zone?
Rebloom is nothing if not unpredictable. There are five different types of rebloom described by the AIS. Some rebloom happens shortly after initial spring bloom, some rebloom happens later in the season after temps cool in the fall, some rebloom can happen any old time. And, of course, some rebloom rarely happens at all.

Rebloom is kind of an adventure every year, isn't it? I've found that my first group of rebloomers, the group that I bought first when I read that there was such a thing as reblooming irises, are pretty reliable, especially after they got well established. This is only my first full season with Sugar Blues and Fast Forward so I don't really know what to expect and when to expect it. I couldn't be more pleased, though, that I get to see both of these again so soon.
