Fill-in plants for new Aril bred bed?

Saguache, CO

Any ideas for deer-resistant annuals that would work well as "filler" for a new bed I'm hoping will eventually fill in with the Aril breds I've just purchased and planted? I also have some low-growing sedum that the deer mow but do not destroy...THX

I understand that deer will not eat nicotiniana. A friend of mine plants it because she has a lot of deer in her yard. The take a bite then spit it out. And it is an attractive annual.

Also, try portulaca (rose moss) or marigolds of the smaller variety. Both are hardy
and come in a wide variety of colors. By hardy I mean tough to a poor environment.
The portulaca reseeds itself and will spread into a fairly dense ground cover.
