Is Pachysandra considered an invasive plant??

Fowlerville, MI(Zone 5b)

I bought some today, but I don't want to plant them until I know how invasive they are...

I'd appreciate any help you can give.

I couldn't find anywhere saying that Michigan had classified it as invasive, but in some of the mid-Atlantic and southern states I believe it is, so you might consider planting something else instead.

Japanese pachysandra is, but the native Allegheny pachysandra is not.
However. . .
If you have Japanese pachysandra already established in your yard, you should get rid of it before you introduce any Allegheny pachysandra because it can hybridize and create a whole 'nother monster!

p.s. how invasive something is depends on the location in which it is planted, but it's always good to go native when one can!

I have Pachysandra terminalis growing along the edge of my lawn. It is in the shade & gets morning sun. I've lived here 11 years & it has only spred about 1 - 1 1/2 feet from where it was when we moved here. I just did a search on the internet & it's the same as Japanese Pachysandra.

The Allegheny Pachysandra is also called Allegheny Spurge.
