Climbing Hydrangea

Has anyone here had success with climbing hydrangea that is in mostly light shade?

Thanks!

Is it Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris, or Schizophragma hydrangeoides? They're both called climbing hydrangea so I want to make sure everyone is giving you advice on the right plant. Either way if your "mostly light shade" doesn't include any strong afternoon sun I think either one should be fine. I think Schizophragma can handle more sun than the Hydrangea can, although a lot of afternoon sun might still cause some problems for it.

ecrane3, I have no idea! LOL. My neighbor down the street, around the corner and up the street some more has 3 plants. I stopped and asked him if they are climbing hydrangea and he said yes. That's as far as we got. I had no idea there were different ones. The one I am interested in has blue flower balls, smaller than the hyrangea bush plant has. It's a beautiful shade of light blue. Outstanding plant.

Well, both the Schizophragma and the "true" climbing Hydrangea have white/off white flowers so honestly it doesn't sound like either one to me! I wonder if it could be Dichroa febrifuga instead? Its common name is evergreen hydrangea and it has blue flowers that are smaller than a regular mophead hydrangea. It's pretty common out here, I've seen them in a number of gardens. Only problem though is that it's not a climber, so if you've seen it climbing then this isn't it either.

Here are some pics from PF so you can see if one looks familiar:

well shoot. When I go for my walk tomorrow AM, i'll take another close look. Honestly, those links don't really look like it. I will take a picture of it and post it. Perhaps it's more of a Plumbago? He's an old guy like me (old gal). Maybe he's mistake. It was me who asked if his is a climbing hydrangea. Maybe I put it in his head LOL. It did appear it's branches wanted to branch out, but maybe not. He was trimming it to keep it contained - his words.

Thanks!

Yes, a picture would be really helpful, I'm sure someone will recognize it then.
