I realize Gaza isn't an European country, but I guess is as close as I can get. Is there anyone here that can identify this flower? The picture was taken in late spring.
unknown flower in Gaza
I've NO idea what it is, but I wish I did! I want it! It's fantastic!

Bubba - do you have a photo of the leaf and approximate size - I'm guessing that because it is in the Gaza, it is in gravelly dryish soil and not shady woodland - but maybe you could give us some growing conditions
Hi Laurie!
Yes it is in rocky, gravelly soil, no woodlands. The leaves on the picture are the only ones I have. Thank you for the reply!
Hi Bubba, try the Plant and Tree Identification forum; there are some real experts in there that might help you.

Well Dave, one of our fellow members came through on my mystery flower from Gaza! For all interested here is the link to the answer http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/880034/ . The name of the flower is Sparaxis elegans, and here is another link http://www.bulbsociety.org/GALLERY_OF_THE_WORLDS_BULBS/GRAPHICS/Sparaxis/Sparaxis_elegans/S.elegans.html
Thank you all for your interest!
You should be able to buy Sparaxis from your local garden centre in mixed colours. If you have problems finding them i sell them at mine at £1.49 a pack. I don't think i am allowed to advertise the site so dmail me if you get stuck finding them.
