Our neighbor unfortunately hauled in a giant tub of the nastiest salt for winter yesterday. Normally, during the winter, I try to get out there before him to lay down something else to help with ice and snow. But it got me thinking - is there anything out there I should strategically plant to help create a buffer along the walk and take the brunt of any salt the neighbor may put down this winter - thus saving the iris?
Any suggestions? My other idea was just to haul rocks from the nearby creek and build a little rough mini wall along the edge of the walk.
I need to find a tough perennial to serve as a buffer
