When it gets a little haggard looking...

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

do you trim it back hard? Mine has flopped with all the heat, humidity and t-storms and is brown and cruddy looking in the center. I have been hoping to see a little new growth in the center before I hack away at it. I have always just ignored it until spring then cut off the nasty bits but it is really looking tired now.

Oh sorry I thought I put that in there somewhere. Snow in Summer, aka Cerastium. Just wanted to know if you all usually cut it back.

I looked it up, and here's a bit of what I found ...

Care for Snow-In-Summer Plants:
After they have dumped their "snowfall" of white blooms in early summer, trim away the faded blooms and some of the foliage to keep snow-in-summer plants looking attractive all summer. Remember, they are grown as much for the silvery carpet their foliage can provide as for their attractive flowers.

I hope that helps.

Thanks Candyce, I thought you could cut them back, I guess I better get at them.

You are welcome.

I pinched all the old blooms off awhile back and it is now spitting out a few new ones.
