CLOSED: Fariy Garden & Fairy Garden Art Swap #2!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

OK-you asked for it and here it is:) Sorry, I wasn't feeling well when I got home....

We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/869868/

Hello-My name is Stacey and of course since I am Fairy1004 I want to do a fairy swap!!!

I will open it today and will post names on the 2nd post-if you don't see your name and it should be there, JLMK:)

Just 2 rules for this swap:
1. If you already have a Fairy Garden or Fairy garden art, please give us a peek so that we can:
a. get ideas and share
b. not get you the same things you already have
2. You MUST post a pic when you get your surprise from your swap partner!!

I will close it on 7/9 and get names & addys to you on 7/10. While I hate to set $$ limits, around $20 is reasonable I think...

IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE EXCHANGE OR HAVE NEVER BEEN IN ONE OF MY CO-OPS, dmail me your address.

I expect all packages to be mailed out by 7/18-if you have an emergency, at least be courteous and dmail your buddy to let them know:)

I have attached a pic of what I have-I still need to paint some things and actually put it outside-it was raining today, so I set it up on my fireplace to give you an idea...

Here are some sites that have things for a fairy garden and fairy garden art.
Some of these are all compliments of other DG members that found them-thanks guys!!

You've got quite a collection going there, Stacey. That's a cute idea on making your table. An upside down little clay pot, right? My monitor's the pits for looking a pictures.

Oh, yea, forgot to tell you, I'm in the exchange.

Deborah

It is, but I am looking for a different one-they have a skinnier one @ Michaels I want to get for it-the thing I had originally gotten was too tall for the base:)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Stacey, I want to thank you for doing this swap... and for (many weeks ago) bringing this type of area in our garden to light in many of our minds. I, for one, had never thought about doing anything like this until you brought it up... and I so wanted to do something unusual in a section of my yard... I'm also enjoying the little girl in me being able to use her imagination in an almost childlike manor... so, thank you, my friend... this has been a challenge, and fun, and will continue to be for years to come.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

You are most welsom Beeltle Jive-I am glad that you are enjoying yourself....

Wait til you see my next one-already have my gifts for it too:)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I just hope I can keep up... FFFFF-FF-FFFF erry.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Here's a link to an ebay store with lots of miniatures for our new gardens. This seller charges actual shipping and is awesome, she does this for a living and has supplied a few buyers with items for their Fairy Gardens. She tells me that she updates her inventory often, so to check back. I recommend bookmarking her site. I was able to get quite a bit of stuff for REALLY inexpensive.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... you're holding my arm behind my back and twisting it too...

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Enablers....the whole lot of ya! Yaouta be ashame~LOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ummm... I see you're among us too, Deborah.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

hee hee hee... you should've seen my DH when I told him I bought miniatures for a Fairy Garden..... he just shook his head and walked out the room :o)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Mine doesn't know yet. Guess he will when he gets home next week.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

My DH is just glad I spend time here and not on myspace!!LOL He doesn't get the whole thing either, but as our yard gets prettier and he can see my visions coming to light he is slowly getting it:)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Don just says that it keeps me off the streets and off the poker tables. I don't spend near as much money now as I did when I played poker... guess I wasn't very good at it.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

:o) My DH is always shaking his head annnnnnnd then when he starts seeing the bulbs break through the dirt or the flowers bloom or the tomatoes ripen.... all of a sudden he KNEW it was all going to turn out so well?? oh I love him, but I wanna smack him sometimes ;o) JK...wait I DO love him, that's not a JK!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Some one is giving away an angel trumpet.
Go and take a guess.

BJ, does he know about your little helper friend yet? It's going to think a fairy came to the house to help.
Stacey, your DH is walking around admiring the flowers too? Mine shakes his head every time a new plant appears on the door step. But then when he walks around he sure is smiling at the blooms.

No one in our neighborhood grows flowers except a couple up the street who has massed out New Gold Lantana. (which is goreous by the way). Oh, and the lady just outside our sub division has all plastic flowers in her beds. Every one of those blooming flower is artificial. She even nailed bouquets on top of her fence post. I stopped by when she was at the mail box one day and told her to come by my house and we would dig up daylilies if she wanted some. She said ok, but I think she may be a little touched. But my offer still stands if she'll just come by. I think I'll just dig some up myself and take them to her. She could really use a fairy garden. Hummm, just might make her one.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ya know, Don acts surprised when he sees those little starts peeking up through the ground in the spring... like, he didn't expect it... even though he saw the same thing last year, and said the same thing then... sometimes, I just wonder where his mind is.

Actually, he never says a word about how much I spend on the yard and flower beds... except things like "why don't we have a hibiscus?"... or "when are you going to finish the Tropical garden?"... I am the one telling him to be patient.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I think he really isn't interested, just pretends sometimes, but he was impressed w/ my tulip beds-was making fun of me last Oct freezing my butt off digging them all out w/ a trowel!!!LOL

DH always laughs at me because I say things like-"babe, I got this on celarance for $2 just cuz they won't take care of it!!!"!!!LOL

He does like the toad lilies though and is excited to see the rare Golden Leopard I have that just bloomed!!!

Okay ya'll I just convinced Todd that I need a pond and he said okay!! whoo hoo!! Now i'm gonna have to get a little pond for my Fairy Garden, I saw one on ebay too, uh oh ;o)

~melissa :o)

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

OOOH that's breathe takingly colorful! I bet you stop traffic with that front yard! What's that tree?

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Stacey your home is just devine :o) Love it love it love it!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Melissa, a pond, like in Koi Pond???? Exactly what words did you use to get that OK? I reeeaaallly need to know.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

It is a red dogwood tree-see the tulip circles turned out good huh??? DH was sitting inside w/ hot coffeee making fun of me late Oct while I sat on a cardboard box on the cement digging and measuring those cirlces!!!

Thanks for the compliments-I am very happy with the way they turned out...our yard looks VERY different form others and that is what I wanted:)

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Yuppers, a Koi pond ;o) okay here's the break down... I'm clipping this from another post when I first bragged about it...hee hee hee

Rainey...and Sunny too- I just told Todd about Sunny's pond journal. I was being all nice and said "If you get the chance would you at least LOOK at the pictures?" blink blink blink His response was "Who wants a pond?" I said "Mawissa" he said "Then who gets a pond?" I said "Mawissa" and he said "Why do you get a pond?" and I said "'cause Toddy wuvs Mawissa" hee hee hee all this time I thought he was against it, but NOOOOOO I just needed to blink!!! sheesh MEN...ugh!!

But alas...I'm gettin a pond, I'm gettin' a pond... now it's just a matter of time :o) Gonna wait till this summer heat goes away, but still... I'm gettin' a pond, I'm gettin' a pond

oh I'm bad ;o)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Stacey... your front yard is so pristine... love the tulips... we just can't do tulips down here in Texas, and I love them.

I was wondering when someone was going to do a pond with a Fairy garden...

But, what did we do to convince Todd? We need to do the same thing to Deborah's hubby... quick... tell us...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I came up w/ the neatest idea, but need a little help...I got a clay saucer and want to make it a fairy pond and if it works out will make one for my buddy too...I want to take and glue light blue stone thingies (the oines you put in vases) in the inside and glue stones to the outside and sink it to the rim almost...now, what I need the help with is this:you know that stuff you get sometimes w/ fake flower arrangements-makes it look like there is water in the vase but it is hard????what is that stuff-I want to put that in over the blue stones to make it look like water...

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Hey Stacey, maybe my monitor is getting better. Do I see butterfy stick thingys in your front border? Ooolaala. what are they made of?

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Glad for the new thread, loads so much faster...

Great looking house and yard there Stacey! I need to get some color in the front of mine. Something should be blooming before long.

Went shopping for a short time today (I escaped/got lost from the herd). Didn't find any tiny plants, but found a few garden bug & flower buttons, UV sealer paint, and a few other goodies that were actually on my list! I'm going to run-away again tomorrow to try to find mini plants at Lowe's.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I got two and the dog ate one. I think I need something heavier. She (Katie the Lab) just loves anything that's lightweight and moves.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

That tree just makes that corner!
