Painful subject..hemroids

Can anyone tell me how long before I should send hubby to the doctor for this? He has been dealing with this for about two months and has tried everything over the counter, plus some herbal supplements from the health food store. He does drink a ton of water every day plus gets his fiber, green veggies. Nothing seems to help and he is becoming a monster to live with! Ouch! lol
